Tequila Mockingbird

Let's make one of the choices for this week's outing somewhere that doesn't serve tequila, how 'bout it? I'm far too old to be passing out in other people's beds.

Our fearless leader....aka Jeremy....

So, since it seems that now people are just voting over and over again for their venue choices (since there aren't actually 19 people who come to this site....I don't think), I look to our fearless leader to announce the winner (as long as its the Duke of Kent!). Its really close to my new job so I have to start getting used to getting drunk in that neighbourhood :)

Supporters of sex toys unite!!

I think we need to discuss some important, non-beer-related issues on this site and this is perfect one to start with....the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a constitutional challenge to an Alabama law that makes it a crime to sell sex toys. The law prohibits the distribution of "any device designed or marketed as useful primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs." First-time violators can face a fine of up to $10,000 and as much as one year in jail. The appeals court said it agreed with Alabama that the law exercised time-honored use of state police power to restrict the sale of sex. It rejected the ACLU's argument that the constitutional right to privacy covered the commercial sale of sex toys.

I, for one, along with my 'bunny', am appalled.

And the Oscar goes to

Now that we no longer have unscrupulous people washing the blue ink off their fingers and getting back in line, it would appear that the torrent of votes has ceased and Friday has won. Thursday has refused to offer a concession speach and vows to be back.
Good job, Friday.
With that settled (or do I hear a challenge from the corner? Oh, just stretching, were you? Try to keep your hands down during offical proceedings unless you have something to say, OK? Thanks.) , it's time to discuss a venue. The polling stations are open and the international observers have all been involved in mysterious car crashes so feel free to vote lots.

It's like Iraq without all the suicide bombers, armed Americans and falafel

Ok, it's very little like Iraq, but at least we too now have free and democratic elections. If you don't vote, you don't get a say on when or where we go next.

Like in Ukraine, there is very little (other than the fear of worldwide protests) stopping you from stuffing the ballot box. But, I expect you to play nice and bribe me where necessary, for I -- as keeper of the sacred polling password -- have the ability to adjust the count on my whim.

Stand up for our pints

This is terribly alarming.

I think we should
make it our mandate to flex our atrophied muscles and eliminate atrocities like this.

I shudder....

the meaning of liff

more goodness from the Embassy.

I never could get the hang of Thursdays......

Ok, so here's my plan for Thursday. Catch up with me where you can.
I'll be at the Dodger by 4:30ish for a pintish with any downtown-type folk who care to come. By around 5:30 I'm heading homeward along with anyone who has an interest in reality TV porn. There, in addition to watching said porn, we will partake of Karen's cuisine and any beer, wine or munchines that happen to be lying around (or otherwise magically appear) .

Virtual Keith's

The GTGtPAWA is officially online.
It only took 6 months to sign up for a free, 3-click service. That
isn't too bad, is it?

To celebrate, let's do something new and original. Like go for beer
and nachos at some pub.

I'm OK with next week, but I also want to go out the week after; we
have a rookie coming in from the praries who would be up for a pint.

Either way, I think it's time to head back to a Duke. Kent @ Eglinton?

I will now open the floor to discussion on a date.

I remain,
Your humble beer wench.
